Description

Real London Tube displays the London tube map drawn to scale on top of your device's street map (Google maps pre iOS6) to give you a more realistic view of the London underground and to show you where walking would be quicker, cheaper or more convenient. Real London Tube includes: Live tube status Live departure boards Journey Planning (including buses and trains etc.) Address and point of interest search Your nearest station An offline map See Real London Tube in action at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAvLU6x5QG0 The traditional tube map provides a very distorted view of where stations actually are in relation to each other. This can often lead to longer journey times or even tube journeys that would be quicker to walk. Real London Tube will lead to a much more efficient use of the London Underground. Real London Tube shows how the tube map looks if it was really drawn to scale whilst maintaining all the detail of the maps application that you have come to recognise on your device.. See where you are on the map in relation to tube stations and tube lines. Quickly see the nearest stations and lines to your current location including the distance. Drop a pin on the map to see in advance where the nearest tube stations are to any location. Search for an address to see the nearest stations to that Highlight stations to help you plan your journey. Go ahead and enjoy a more efficient use of the London Underground. Examples: The conventional tube map suggests that Notting Hill Gate is the nearest central line tube station to Paddington. In fact Lancaster gate is only 0.28 miles from Paddington compared with Notting Hill which is 1 mile away. The conventional tube map shows Wimbledon and South Wimbledon stations in very separate areas whereas in reality they are less than a mile apart. The conventional map suggests that Mansion House and Barbican are far apart on opposite sides of the circle line. They are in fact only 0.6 miles apart. Not much more than 10 minutes walk. Note: Viewing your current location requires GPS. Loading the map underneath the tube lines requires an internet connection. This isn't actually required to view the tube lines, it just makes it look better. You can always pre-cache the maps if you expect to be without an internet connection while using the app.

Just bought it to get around London so I can decide whether to walk or catch a tube. It's a great idea but anything I ask for under journey planning just says it's unable to do so. Not much point having it then really so save your money and use the real projection maps available on Google for free.
  • Great integration of tube and street but planner doesn't work

I love the realistic placement of tube stations - makes planning walk onwards much easier, but the route planner always says "unable to plan route".... This rather undoes all that good work...

Without the route planner the app loses its main function which is intelligent route planning. Please fix it as currently the app is useless to me.
  • Used to be good

Since the route planner stopped working the app is not very useful anymore.

This app was good until the route planner stopped working, which was several weeks ago. The support people for the app have ignored emails to rectify this problem. Don't buy this app until they have sorted it out!

Was the tube best app I'd used - but the route planner has not worked for at least 6 weeks. I emailed the support team but not even a response. Shame.
