Description

Every singer as an A4 folder of songs they bring to rehersal, but now they can have all of their lyrics with them all the time, on their iPhone. You can also create setlists of songs which can be edited and reordered. Setlists and individual songs shared with the rest of the band by email, iMessage, Airdrop, or print them out. Rather than searching online for other other people's versions of songs, this app displays your lyrics, which you've formatted as you want them on your computer. You can create them in Pages 09, Doc, pdf, rtf or txt format [Unfortunately Apple don't yet allow apps to use the new Pages 5 format - this should be resolved in a future iOS update] then simply transfer them to your phone using the iTunes file transfer system (on the Apps tab for your device). While primarily designed for singers, the new improved pdf handling makes PDF scores look amazing, so the whole band can get in on the act. Not only does My Lyric Book remember your lyrics and set lists, but songs can be tagged with a tempo for the built in metronome, or linked to tracks in your iTunes library so you can refer to a recorded version or play a backing track from within the app. You can even send midi patch changes, so selecting a song programs your keyboard for you! If the rest the band is using the app too, then you can all sync up, so that the band leader can select songs and have them automatically selected on everyones screens. (Note this DOES NOT distribute the lyrics, but selects each band member's version, so each band member can see their own parts as they've set up their devices). Of course your lyrics look even better on an iPad, but an iPhone or iPod has plenty of screen space to display lyrics and you can always have it in your pocket. You can use Airturn BT-105(http://www.airturnaffiliate.com/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=157) or Pageflip Cicada pedals to scroll through your lyrics. You can select what each pedal does in the Settings app, though note that if you only have two pedals they're probably numbered 1 and 3 - that's just how the BT pedals work. NOTE: No lyrics are included with the App. It displays lyrics you've already prepared. HANDY HINTS: You can swipe to advance to the next song, or back to the previous one. You can email songs to yourself as attachments. If the auto-rotation gets in the way, remember you can turn it off in preferences. Normally you can't delete songs incase you wipe it by accident during a gig (ouch!). You need to enable this in preferences too. To rename a set-list just click on it while in edit mode. Check the "support" link at the top this page for more info. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR THOSE STRUGGLING TO ADD LYRICS: To add lyrics to the app first connect your device to iTunes Select your device in the left hand bar Select the Apps tab which shows the Apps installed on your device, along with your iOS home screen. Scroll down to the bottom where you'll find and area marked "File Sharing" Select the My Lyric Book App in the File sharing area Drag and drop your files into the area labeled Documents. They will then be copied to the device and appear in the Lyric Book App. For more help check:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4094?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US If you have any problems, then email me before leaving a negative review - I want the app to work great for you, and can usually sort out any problems. I can't reply directly to reviews, but most of the issues raised, could have been resolved by an email (ian@dctsystems.co.uk)

One or two features were somewhat obscure but an E-mail to app support brought a promo and helpful reply.

Saves having all my lyrics on a stand in front of me at gigs. Paper lyrics sheets tend to get a bit tatty after a few gigs too so this saves reprint after reprint. Added our bands set list to an iPad mini and clipped it to my mic stand. I've also synced the songs to my iPhone. It's very easy to change a set list or find a song from your library if you do requests. It is so easy to use and load up with lyrics. I highly recommend this app!

Just acquired iPad and wanted something to replace all the paper sheets I carry around. Tried various experiments then found My Lyric Book and downloaded. Trouble was I use OpenOffice to prepare sheets and app doesn't recognise. But an afternoon tidying up my sheets and converting to PDF sorted that. Then simply connect iPad to netbook, open iTunes and transfer straight on. Great!
  • Amazing App For Vocalists & Musicians!

My lyric book is quite simply the best app I have! Being a singer, I used to have numerous lyric books. Now all I need is my Ipad & my Airturn Bluetooth pedals. Also, after every software update from Apple, the My Lyric Book developers update the app as soon as they can. And if you find something needs tweaking, all you have to do is contact them & they're on it straight away. They are very helpful & will always answer your queries. For all the people who say this is a terrible app & that it's not user friendly....what is wrong with you?! I'm not that good with computers etc but I find this app to be very simple to use. If I can use it, anyone can! :) All I do is get all my lyrics the size I want them, using Microsoft Word on my laptop. Then connect the Ipad to Itunes, upload the lyrics to My Lyric Book, then switch my Airturn Bluetooth pedals on, & I can scroll through my lyrics live on stage with ease. Simple! I recommend this app to all vocalists who need that extra bit of help with the hundreds of lyrics that we need. It has helped me so much over the last 2 years. Thanks My Lyric Book for all your help. I hope more vocalists & musicians use you in the future.
  • Don't buy

This app is dreadful. Definitely the worst app I've bought and I can't even believe I spent £1.99 on it. You can't write the lyrics in manually or paste them in. It makes no sense. You want to be able to do everything in one place. Can I get my £1.99 back?
  • Useful app.

This is a very useful app. It behaves pretty much exactly as you would want it to, from presentation of lyrics to compiling set lists. I personally find embedding an mp3 into a lyric very useful. The only thing that would improve it in my opinion is if there were some kind of progress bar for the music file that is being played.
  • This is it!!!!

Congratulations! You've written the almost near perfect performing app! I'm a singer/guitarist and use backing tracks. I've tried so many other apps and they fail miserably and I wonder if the authors have ever actually USED their apps in stage. This one obviously has... :) The only thing missing is a remaining timebar but the author has already responded to my query and is looking into it. To all you musos out there, if you're like me, look no further. I spent ages (and money) looking for the perfect app to gig with and this is it. It's worth so much more than the asking price. Call off the search and just get it. Brilliant!!
