  • You know what, libraries are way cooler than this sh!!

I found it a bit crass that you have to download the app, give your email and sign-up before it is finally disclosed to you that you will be charged for the ‘free’ app’s use after a limited trial. It states that you will start being charged if you don’t cancel it; which is a nasty little wallet-grab. The app should not be advertised as free when you get so little of it for free. Just be honest and tell people it’s a trial instead of wasting everyone’s time.
  • App flawed

Great idea but bad execution. I am a premium member and quite disappointed with the app which is flawed and doesn't offer necessary functionalities. You can't download summaries eg when you are commuting and no tool to extract the summaries from the app and save them remotely. Unresponsive support team and thus only one star.
  • Good idea - wobbly app

Great concept but the app is starting to drive me crazy by repeating some of the blinks in the book twice. Also it seems hit and miss if I can use other apps whilst listening to Blinkist?
  • Money sucking hypocrisy

When you are in the business of selling knowledge, shouldn't you be learning as well as teaching from the numerous customers who are trying to tell you how to improve? Like many people here said below, this is crazy expensive and although they make it sound like you get one free book a day, that's not true. You have a 7 day trial in which if you forget to cancel your credit card you'll be charged £60 for the whole year! Obviously people like what this app offers but not the way it's offered-at all! Unfortunately they don't wanna change and until then they will keep getting low star rating... Good luck geniuses!
  • Two star review to flag this bug

Please fix the “repeat first blink as soon as it’s 75% in”. Perhaps it loops once it’s finished downloading the whole audio clip? Off-putting to the extent that I’d rather leave it a week to see if you guys can fix this. Excellent service otherwise thank you. I’m an auditory learner and I’m quick to absorb, so repetition like this in an app designed to speed-read on the go is purpose-defeating. Others have noted it too.

I have just discovered this app and did what I always do first which is read all the reviews. As for many, an immediate sum of nearly £60 is just too much to commit to. I downloaded the app anyway and was pleased to find there is now a monthly subscription option. However, that pleasure was short lived. Do you really think people who are unable to part with £60 for an annual fee will be willing to pay 56% more per year to get a monthly subscription? To me that just feels plain greedy.
  • Wow!! Fantastic idea and service.

I enjoy reading, however, there are too many books and not enough time! Blinkist is my guilty pleasure.
  • ‘Free’ download.

The ‘free’ version gives you a daily pick that the app selects (like it or lump it 😉). You can’t choose/access any other titles unless you pay the £60 annual fee. I wish apps would be more upfront about what you get when you download the basic and what you need to pay to upgrade. Hopefully this will save others from downloading just to find out then delete.

Expensive subscription model and 0 value freemium. Waste of time and bandwidth.
  • Excellent but very buggy and pricey

I love learning but unfortunately never seem to find enough time to read the books I have, let alone buy more. This app solves that problem perfectly. It should be a 5 Star app but there are 2 major bugs and then there’s the price. Sometimes when I start listening it’ll just stop and go back to the start of the section I’m on and replay it. Also most of the books I’ve read it plays every section twice which is very annoying as you can’t just put your phone down to listen as you’re constantly picking it up to skip the duplicate section. As for the price I trialled this a long time ago and loved it but just couldn’t justify the big yearly cost so stopped using the app. I managed to get a Black Friday bargain which for me I felt was fair and affordable. It’s an excellent service and I would say it probably is worth the higher price. It’s just not going to be affordable for everyone.
